Thank you Interlock Industries Lifetime Roofing for my new beautiful roof! The project was completed in a timely matter in between extreme hot conditions, and Tony did an excellent job from start to finish! His installation was efficient and professionally done with top workmanship, and he cleaned the job site thoroughly. I am most appreciative of his work and the end results. I requested bids from several roofers and am delighted that I chose your company to re-roof my house. Throughout the initial bidding process, I was impressed by the professionalism of Mr. Bruce Mehuys. He was helpful in offering advice on options, he answered all of my questions, educated me on roofing specifics and gave me the confidence to make one of the biggest single purchases of my lifetime. Interlock Roofing provided me with a high quality residential roof. I am extremely satisfied with my new roof and would highly recommend Interlock Industries Lifetime Roofing to anyone in need of a new roof installed to the highest standards. Review: August 13, 2016Completion: July 12, 2016

Cleaning bits of material (nails, small bits of trimmed aluminum tiles)out of the eavestrough. We collected nails and small aluminum bits over the course of weeks after completion. We love the way our new roof looks. It's the jewel of the street- it really stands out. The snow guards look fabulous and add additional architectural detail and safety features. The difference between the old shingles and the new slate tile is dramatic, not just from a cosmetic perspective. We used to find pieces of shingle grains all over our concrete after a rainfall. Thanks to InterLock we have a beautiful, solid , strong roof that will stand the test of time and all weather conditions and never flake or wear off; true to the lifetime warranty. The colour and texture are simply gorgeous. We can smile now in any weather knowing we don't have to worry about all the issues we had with regular shingles.

Review: September 18, 2023Completion: July 17, 2023

Once you understand the economics of your decision - you realize why an Interlock 40/50 year aluminium roof is the best way to go. I have a south facing side of my roof that needs to be replaced every 10 years because of the extreme sun damage to the asphalt shingles. That means I would need 2 or 3 more asphalt roofing jobs over the next 30 years, never mind 50 years. Even if your asphalt roof lasts 15 years - it will still need 2 replacements in 30 years - 3 or more replacements in 50 years. I more than break even cost wise, with this one 40/50 year aluminium application, and roofing jobs will just keep increasing in cost. Even if prices remained the same - 3 asphalt roofs would still cost more than my superior original aluminium roof did. But roofing costs will not remain the same. I also get to look at a beautiful, strong, impermeable roof for the next 40/50 years, rather than an average looking asphalt roof that continues to degrade and look worse every year until I have to replace it again and again and again. It's not just the cost - its the effort of having to do 3 or 4 more roofing jobs and hoping they will all do a reasonable job. No thanks. Done and done. I never have to think about roofing again, as my stunning roof provides perfect protection for 40/50 years - rather than knowing I am going to have to do it all over again every ten years or be at risk of damaging the homes interior. That's why Insurance companies always ask - when did you last do your roof. I chose the black slate and it looks amazing - make sure you pick the shingle colour to match the colour of your brick for the best result. I also painted out all the trim to match the black slate shingles and went with new black gutters, soffits, fascia and gutter guards. My house now stands out from all the other asphalt and steel roofs in the neighbourhood and most certainly this has increased the property value considerably more than my original roofing cost. Instant $ recovery. Nothing I can think of - this was one of the best projects I have experienced - no disappointments - extremely happy with the final result. Every time I look at the new roof - it reinforces what a great decision it was to use this product and this company. Never need to think about roofing again - superior protection for 50 years and it looks like a piece of art because of the amazing job Tony did on the installation.

Review: July 15, 2019Completion: November 4, 1999

After 20 years the paint on my interlock lifetime roof began to peel. The company backed their warranty and installed a new roof for me. I'm extremely happy with the new roof, it is better quality now than it was 20 years ago. And it was installed so much better as well. I can see the difference a proper installation job can make. Steve the installer was hard working, conscientious, a do it right the first time kind of guy. He improved on things the first installers did or should have done. Just as a fast race car is only as good as the driver, a top quality roof is only as good as the installer. Steve is definitely one of the best this company has to offer, I've worked with enough people over the years to know a good worker when I see one. And now my great looking roof proves it. Looks 100 percent better than the first roof. Thanks Steve, well done. And thanks Interlock for standing behind your warranty.

The only area I would've liked them to improve would be the time that it took to complete the job. It's a great company, and I'm very pleased with the product. If I know anyone who needs a roof, I'll be sure to recommend them.

They could have improved on their timing, but weather was a factor. It took three weeks, and would have been better if it was completed in a shorter time frame. We are overall satisfied. We have received positive comments on our roof, so we are happy!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Brampton

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Brampton, Ontario. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Brampton.

Does metal roofing handle Brampton's snow load and ice dams?

Yes—aluminum's four-way interlocking design sheds snow and ice effectively, and the light weight (Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed even under Brampton's typical 107 cm annual snowfall. The panels are warranted to 120 mph wind resistance, which handles the gusts up to 118 km/h common here. Unlike asphalt, which can split under repeated freeze-thaw cycles (Brampton sees about 88 per year), aluminum flexes without cracking, and its smooth surface prevents ice dams from forming along the eaves.

How does metal roofing survive freeze-thaw cycles in Ontario winters?

Aluminum roofing thrives in freeze-thaw climates because the material itself does not absorb water or degrade when temperatures cycle. With roughly 88 freeze-thaw days per year in Brampton, asphalt shingles absorb moisture, swell, contract, and eventually crack or curl; aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without damage. The 3105-H24 alloy (ASTM B209 specification) and Alunar 70% PVDF coating are tested and proven across Canada's coldest regions since 1998—the oxide layer that forms on aluminum actually self-heals when scratched, maintaining protection even after decades of seasonal stress.

Can a metal roof rust in Ontario's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. With Brampton receiving about 717 mm of annual rainfall plus 107 cm of snow, moisture exposure is constant, but aluminum's natural oxide layer—which self-heals when scratched—provides permanent corrosion protection. Steel roofing rusts within years in these conditions. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy with a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. The Guardian Warranty covers rusting, making aluminum the only metal choice for long-term durability in wet climates.

Will metal roofing stay secure in Brampton windstorms?

The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), well above the typical gusts of 118 km/h that occur in Brampton. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. This engineering is verified under ICC-ES ESR-1790 (the current 2025 IBC/IRC building code evaluation). During installation over your existing roof, the added layer provides structural mass that further stabilizes the system—no structural reinforcement is needed despite the extreme wind rating.

Can my house support a metal tile roof without structural work?

Yes—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, so no structural reinforcement is required. Most Brampton homes can accept the added weight over an existing asphalt roof. Because aluminum weighs so little, installation is faster and safer than traditional tile, and the four-way interlocking panels spread the load across the entire roof deck. The Slate profile is even lighter at 0.41 lb/sq ft. Your installer will verify your deck condition, but in the vast majority of cases, the exceptional lightness of aluminum means you get the authentic appearance of premium materials without costly structural upgrades.

How long does a metal roof last, and what's covered?

The Guardian Warranty offers a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. This is the last roof you will buy: with Brampton's 88 freeze-thaw days and 107 cm annual snowfall, asphalt fails in 15–20 years, while aluminum performs for 50+ years. The warranty is transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years from completion—a significant resale advantage. The Alunar coating alone carries a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 measured), and the aluminum alloy itself never corrodes regardless of the warranty term.

Does metal roofing stand up to hail in Ontario?

Yes—Interlock Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, and Tile profiles all achieve UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, with warranty coverage for perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This rating means the aluminum's exceptional strength resists the impact energy that would dent, crack, or puncture asphalt, wood, or composite shingles. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer premium discounts. Combined with Brampton's typical conditions (3,007 sunshine hours per year and moderate wind gusts), a metal roof reduces your long-term claim risk—you pay less over time and avoid costly emergency repairs after severe weather.

Does metal roofing reduce cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorb it, with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. During Brampton's 3,007 annual sunshine hours, this reflectance keeps your attic and home cooler, reducing air-conditioning load compared to dark asphalt, which absorbs heat. The Aged Copper Penny finish exemplifies this advantage: its high solar reflectance means less radiant heat enters your home. Over a 50-year roof life, energy savings compound significantly. The aluminum's thermal properties also mean less freeze-thaw stress on your structure (an added benefit in winters with 88 freeze-thaw cycles per year).

Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable, ending the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that repeats every 15–20 years. Over a 50-year lifespan, you avoid five asphalt roof replacements and their environmental cost. Interlock has been manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998, reducing transportation impact within Canada. The material never degrades into microplastics or toxic particles; at end-of-life, it retains full scrap value and re-enters the aluminum supply chain. With Brampton's 717 mm annual rainfall, sustainable materials matter: fewer landfill leachates, fewer tear-off crews, and one installation that serves multiple generations. The CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance waste as well.

How long does metal roof installation take, and can you install over my old roof?

Installation typically takes 2–5 days depending on roof size and complexity, faster than asphalt or tile replacement. Yes, aluminum panels install directly over most existing roofs (asphalt, wood, even tile)—no tear-off required unless structural damage exists. This saves labor, landfill fees, and weather exposure. Interlock Metal Roofing (Ontario) Ltd. has served the region since 1998 and will inspect your deck to confirm suitability. The light weight (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft across profiles) means minimal structural stress, and the solid deck plus underlayment keep the interior asphalt-quiet during Brampton's rain and snow. Your current promotion includes interest-free payments for 3 months and at least $2,499 in savings.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Brampton’s climate?

Yes. Brampton averages about 107 cm of snow, 717 mm of rain, roughly 88 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 118 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
