I was very skeptical in the beginning about spending on this roof, which was more expensive than asphalt shingles roof. However, I am glad that I did it. Ray was very helpful and very professional. Review: June 8, 2016Completion: May 9, 2016

Interlock Roofing is the best company that I have ever used. They made me very happy and I would recommend them to anyone. The workers are the best that I have ever had and are just great and hard working people. They did an excellent and I actually miss them. Many people are looking at our roof, but they do not want to spend the money o have the job done. None of the other roofs in this area are as good as ours. If anyone asks, I would definitely recommend Interlock Roofing to them, because they have really good workers on thier team. The office man that came out explained everything to us. I treated the workers nicely and brought them sandwiches and coffee. They are just the best of the best, and we are very happy. I would like to say hello to the workers, and that I wish them all the best.

Review: September 7, 2022Completion: July 4, 2022

Interlock Roofing could have improved with the cost because it was a bit too high. Everything else was fine. They were on time and professional. The contractors were very organized. They did a great job. There were no bits and pieces flying around when they removed the shingles. There were no nails, and they cleaned up after themselves every day. The neighbors appreciated that.

I will rate once I have had a chance to reach out to them. The crew was very professional, they did their job well, and they cleaned up at the end of each day. I would've had recommended an inspection by someone other than the crew. That is what I am going to request.

Review: October 27, 1998Completion: March 19, 1998

I would first apologize for such a delay in this letter. As you were aware, when we spoke to you, we had just purchased our house, and we’re still in the process of continuing with additional modifications, including the installation of your companies INTERLOCK ROOFING SYSTEM, We have had the new roof for the past six months, and I am astounded that so few people have taken advantage of such a roofing design. We have been through a few storms since the installation, and they were bad, however, we actually heard no noise from the pounding rains, which I was concerned as the roofing is aluminum. I must also add that your staff was outstanding. The fact that I am a police officer meant that some mornings I was not up as bright and early as your staff. They, however, were very obliging in working on another area of the roof, until after I had awakened. I never did hear them up on the roof. They were also very meticulous in ensuring all of the leftover debris was cleaned up. In closing, I can only hope that your company somehow reaches a lot more homeowners, as your system of roofing is not only exceptionally sound, safe and pleasing to the eve, more importantly, it is ecological, thus saving some of our near depleted natural resources. All the best to you and your endeavours. And again thank you for helping us to purchase a roofing system which will be with us for many, many years to come.

Great product, very pleasant sales person (Bruce Mehuys) and very pleasant installer. Love the look and the long life span. Another great feature: The elimination of granules coming off asphalt roofing that negatively impact eavestroughs.

From the initial quote to completion of the job, all our interactions with Interlock were professional and prompt. They answered all our questions and the scope of the work was clear before starting. The job crew on site were friendly and it was clear they took pride in their work. Understanding that delays do occur, I would have preferred a more pessimistic estimate on start date and if it happened that the date could have been brought in that would have been a pleasant surprise.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Mississauga

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Mississauga, Ontario. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Mississauga.

How does a metal roof handle Mississauga's annual snowfall and ice dams?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice reliably even in Mississauga's roughly 100 cm of annual snow. The smooth, slippery surface naturally prevents ice dams—snow slides off rather than forming the dams that plague asphalt roofs. With wind gusts reaching 111 km/h, the panels' 120 mph wind warranty ensures they remain secure during the heavy snow-and-wind events typical of Ontario winters. Snow guards are available if you need additional safety control.

Will freeze-thaw cycles damage an aluminum metal roof?

No. Aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw climates because it expands and contracts uniformly, and contains no iron—so it cannot rust from moisture trapped during Mississauga's approximately 90 freeze-thaw cycles per year. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating, applied to both sides and warranted 30 years against degradation, protects the self-healing oxide layer beneath. This design survives the repeated wet-freeze-dry pattern far better than asphalt, which becomes brittle and cracks under the same stress.

Can a metal roof rust in Ontario's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy, which forms a transparent, self-healing oxide layer that protects the material even when scratched. In climates like Mississauga, where nearly 750 mm of rain falls annually, this immunity is a tremendous advantage over steel roofing—which will eventually corrode and require costly repairs. The Guardian Warranty explicitly covers rusting (it won't happen), giving you complete peace of mind.

Can my house support a metal roof without expensive structural upgrades?

Yes. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb per square foot, and even the Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates heavy clay or concrete, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft (roughly 96% lighter than the real thing). This means most Mississauga homes require zero structural reinforcement. Interlock can install directly over your existing asphalt roof, saving demolition costs and time. The lightweight design is one reason aluminum has been trusted since 1998, from coastal homes to Antarctica.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Yes, over the roof's full lifecycle. While metal costs more initially, asphalt requires tear-off and replacement every 15–25 years, generating landfill waste each cycle. Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited (non-prorated material coverage) for the original owner and one-time transferable for 50 years total—effectively your last roof. With Mississauga's 3,047 annual sunshine hours and freeze-thaw cycling that accelerates asphalt degradation, you'll replace asphalt twice while your metal roof ages. The current promotion offers interest-free payments for 3 months and savings of at least $2,499, lowering the initial barrier further.

Does Interlock metal roofing hold up in hailstorms?

Exceptionally well. Interlock holds the highest hail impact rating available—UL 2218 Class 4—and the warranty covers perforation even from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. In severe weather regions, this rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance premium discounts. Aluminum's natural properties (strength-to-weight ratio, flexibility, and lack of brittleness) contribute to this durability. Combined with Mississauga's exposure to wind gusts of 111 km/h and variable spring storms, Class 4 impact resistance protects your investment against the hail events that would crack or shingle asphalt or shake-style roofs.

Do reflective metal roofs actually reduce cooling costs in Ontario?

Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning they reflect heat rather than absorb it like asphalt does. In Mississauga's roughly 3,047 sunshine hours per year, this reflectance reduces heat gain during summer months, lowering air conditioning demand. The Cool Roof Rating Council verified these values. While Ontario's mean temperature (9.3°C) is moderate, summer peaks still benefit from reduced thermal load. Metal roofing's energy advantage compounds over decades, offsetting part of the initial material cost through utility savings.

How much maintenance does a metal roof require?

Far less than asphalt, wood shake, or tile. Aluminum doesn't rot, split, curl, or crack—eliminating the patching, sealing, and replacement cycles those materials demand. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is factory-applied to both sides and warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, so you won't repaint or re-seal. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance requirements. In Mississauga's 100 cm annual snowfall and 750 mm rain, asphalt roofs require frequent inspections and repairs; metal simply sheds water and resists the freeze-thaw stress that degrades other materials. Plan for occasional debris clearing—that's essentially it.

How long does it take to install a metal roof, and can it go over my existing shingles?

Installation typically takes 3–7 days depending on roof size and complexity. Yes, Interlock installs over existing asphalt roofs without tear-off (the aluminum's light weight—as little as 0.41 lb/sq ft—allows this). This saves time, labor costs, and the landfill waste of removing old shingles. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (Ontario) Ltd., has served the region since 1998 and knows Mississauga's building codes and climate conditions. They'll ensure proper ventilation and drainage given the area's roughly 750 mm annual rainfall, so water management works perfectly with your existing structure.

Will a metal roof help sell my Mississauga home?

Yes. Metal roofing signals quality, durability, and lower maintenance to buyers. The choice of five authentic profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam—means you achieve the curb appeal of premium materials without the vulnerability of wood or clay. The Guardian Warranty's one-time transferability (50 years from completion to the next owner) is a tangible selling point—buyers gain decades of protection. In a market where asphalt roofs are routine, a visibly durable, low-maintenance metal roof differentiates your home and justifies a stronger asking price. Interlock's 1998-to-present track record in North America also reassures buyers of proven longevity.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Mississauga’s climate?

Yes. Mississauga averages about 100 cm of snow, 748 mm of rain, roughly 90 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 111 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
