  • Aluminum panels coated with the Alunar® Coating System (no visible aluminum surface) for durable color retention and long-term corrosion resistance in Sunnyside’s seasonal climate
  • Precision weatherproof seams (profiles: slate, cedar, shake, tile) and mechanical fastening (profile: standing seam) deliver long-term leak protection during wind-driven rain events
  • Interlocking panel geometry reduces wind uplift and maintains watertight performance during Dane County severe gusts and convective storm events
  • High snow-shedding profiles limit snow buildup and reduce ice-dam risk under heavy Sunnyside winter loads and repeated freeze–thaw cycles
  • Low thermal mass and available cool‑roof finishes decrease summer attic heat gain during Midwest heat waves, improving comfort and energy efficiency in Sunnyside homes
  • Class A fire-rated available for enhanced rooftop fire performance and ember resistance where local conditions or codes require it
  • UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance to protect against hail, falling branches, and storm debris commonly encountered in Dane County seasons
  • Solar-ready panel geometry supports bracket‑mounted photovoltaic systems for efficient rooftop solar installation on Sunnyside houses
  • Lightweight, fully recyclable aluminum lowers dead load versus clay or concrete tile and supports long service life in Wisconsin building assemblies
  • Durable finish resists degradation from seasonal moisture and road‑salt carryover typical of inland Dane County environments
  • Factory-controlled panel tolerances and mechanical fastening reduce roof penetrations and simplify future inspection and maintenance for Sunnyside homeowners
  • Lifetime‑Limited transferable warranty provides documented protection and measurable resale value for properties in Sunnyside
  • Atmospheric rivers: Sunnyside is not subject to Pacific‑coastal atmospheric rivers; however, the system’s precision seams and waterproof detailing still protect against prolonged Midwest rainfall events
  • Coastal salt air: Sunnyside lacks marine exposure, so coastal salt corrosion is not a primary concern—Alunar® coating still provides superior resistance to inland deicing salts and moisture
  • Moss control: shaded roofs in Dane County can promote moss; smooth Alunar® finishes and steep, snow‑shedding profiles limit moss adhesion and biological staining on Sunnyside rooftops

Review: July 20, 2016Completion: June 9, 2016

Hello Greg, I just had to drop you a line to tell you how pleased we are with the Interlock Roofing System that was installed last week. I have to admit that as good as I was hoping it would look, it turned out to be so much better than I had even hoped. We couldn’t be prouder of how our house looks now; the new roof is visually stunning. We can now breathe a huge sigh of relief, knowing that we’ll never again have to go out into the yard and pick up the pieces of asphalt shingles that would blow off of the roof after a storm or a high wind day. To boot, the very day after the roof was completed, we had someone who identified himself only as “your nosy neighbor from 10 miles down the road,” who stopped, knocked on our door and started asking questions about the roof. He was shocked to hear that it was a metal roof. He thought that we had installed a slate roof! He was very interested to hear all the facts about the roof, and suddenly I became Interlock Roofing’s most avid salesman. I brought out your business card so that he could take a picture of it with his cell phone, and he said he’d be contacting you soon. I’ve also been talking about the roof with some of the guys at work who had seen the before and after pictures that I brought in, and I’m sure that you will be hearing from some of them in the future too. Now, as much as I couldn’t be happier with contacting you and doing business with you, I have to tell you that even you will have to take a back seat to the super awesome job of your installers, Jesse and his team. To say we were blown away by these guys would be the understatement of the century. They came in like a whirlwind and started doing their thing and made astounding progress in such a short period of time, it blew us away. Jesse himself is such a great face to have attached to your company. He is professional, knowledgeable, and so personable that we knew in an instant that we were in good hands with him and his team. All of his team members were that way, and honestly, the hardest working group of guys that you will ever witness. We expected it to take anywhere from 5 days to a week to get our whole roof done. These guys had it done in 2 days and a couple of hours, and they left no stone unturned in doing the A-1 job that was promised. They even fixed a couple of cosmetic items on our existing siding to boot! What a great bunch of guys. And let me reiterate one more time,…Interlock, as a company, should feel confident and proud to have Jesse and his team representing them. I’m positive you will never find a better team to install your product than them. Again, thank you for the product and the work that you’ve done. You now have not only a very satisfied customer in us, but you also have a couple of very enthusiastic ambassadors for Interlock Roofing Systems.

Review: June 17, 2017Completion: February 17, 2017

I have made, and continuously still make, numerous recommendations to family & friends to install a Interlock roof. And, I have produced pictures on demand that I stored on my smart phone. If possible, I would be appreciative if I could get the drone footage that Jesse had taken after the finishing of the installation. I believe it would be a great selling point coming from a true customer to help propel the Interlock name. There are just a couple areas on the roof that the installation crew could have touched-on during the installation, but overall the roof looks simply amazing. Quality certainly displays the professionalism the installers had put into their work. Since the installation of our new roof, we have received numerous compliments from many of our neighbors that walk around our subdivision, plus a handful of neighbors in the adjoining subdivisions. Many questions have been asked with many answers given. We are definitely happy with our new Interlock roof. We have NOT once questioned or second guessed our decision to install an Interlock roof. It is one of the best decisions we have ever made for re-investing in our home...Thank you, Interlock!

I never really thought I could be thrilled about a roof, but I have to tell you; our new Interlock roof is beautiful! It adds true elegance to our home. We know it adds value as well, and the fact that we will never need to re-roof again is a definite advantage. Everyone within our organization, from the initial phone contact to the installation crew, was courteous and pleasant to work with. The install went smoothly and the crew kept the site clean from beginning to end. Everybody we have shown our Interlock roof to has seemed quite impressed also. We would (and in fact have already done so) recommend Interlock Roofing to others.

Excellent roof! Looks good! The installers were courteous and professional. Put the tarp all around the house and kept the site very clean. I was impressed with their super service. They bent over backward to please us. The A-Team of Roofing! When it rains, it is NOT any louder, and we are in a wind zone, and shingles have not blown off, and we have had the roof since 2008. The snow slides off, too! And the salesman knows his product and explains it well. It will add value to the house. Unlike asphalt, that's like tar and paper, and doesn't hold up. The Interlock Lifetime Roof is super durable!d Greg Weber the salesman, knows his product and explains it well. It will add value to the house. Unlike asphalt, that’s like tar and paper and doesn’t hold up. The Interlock Lifetime Roof is super durable!

Review: May 17, 2017Completion: August 10, 2009

We purchased our roof in 2009 and as you can see from the pictures taken in May of 2017, our roof looks as new as the day we bought it. Here are the things we have noticed most about our Interlock Lifetime Roof over the last 8 years. It keeps our house much cooler in the summer than the asphalt roof we used to have. It really sheds snow, and the snow guards work great. We never need to use a snow rake. We love the durability and the curb appeal. Greg Weber our representative, who we were enthused to learn, is still with the company. When we saw him in 2009 he laid out all the variables in a professional way and our Interlock Roof has lived up to all of our expectations and promises he made. All companies promise results, service, and quality. Interlock delivers.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: July 31, 2008

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off. We are also in a wind tunnel area, and we have never lost an Interlock shingle, and we have had the roof for many years. We were so pleased with our Interlock roof that we put the same roof on our lake home in northern Wisconsin. We get a lot more snow up there and the Interlock’s snow-shedding performance capabilities are second to none on that roof, too!

I love the roof! It looks great, and the squirrels that we’re crawling all over my old asphalt roof slide right off it. The snow slides off, too. I hope to get some $500 referrals. The crew was terrific, hardworking, courteous, polite, and clean.

Drip, drip, drip. This is not a sound you want to hear at 3:30 am… in bed… coming from your attic… in the dead of winter. A quick peek in the attic confirmed my worst fears, the ice dam on the roof was allowing melted water to seep through the crappy asphalt shingles and into the house. We called a local contractor and had the ice dam removed, but this didn’t fix the underlying problem that our current roof was cheap and damaged. My wife and I moved into a beautiful three-story brick Tudor on Madison’s near west side in the fall of 06′. It was perfect in that it had been beautifully remodeled with gorgeous woodwork, marble, and stunning attention to detail, with the exception of the roof. We had decided that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, this was the house we were going to stay in until retirement, so why not invest in a metal roof. After a couple of weeks of research and interviewing, we settled on Interlock. Part of the choice was made on the quality of the product, and part was made on the salesmanship of the rep, Chuck. Work started and except for some problems with the weather, things progressed smoothly. We were especially impressed with the steps the crew took in regard to safety, and our stay-at-home neighbor told us about how exciting the crew was, “you’re definitely getting your money's worth,” was her exact quote. At the end of the job, the crew even emptied all the trash we had pulled out of the attic for us. Now that’s service! After everything is said and done, we’ve been able to cap off our gorgeous house with an equally gorgeous roof.

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems: We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt. In fact, our neighbors lost many shingles in the last major wind storm, and our Interlock roof proved to be the high wind resistance product it is with all shingles intact. We love the fact it’s more reliable and has peace of mind knowing it has lots of longevity and will look brand new not only now but down the road. We also received a discount on our homeowner’s insurance. Overall, we were very satisfied with our sales representative Greg Weber, the company, the service, and the product.

In March 2017 we had an Interlock Lifetime Roof installed. Greg Weber, the salesman, was not pushy. We were very impressed with his salesmanship and the product. He also offered to have the Interlock product put on our wishing well in the front yard. That was something we really appreciated. The clean-up was excellent! Many neighbors and people who " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by the house have noticed the roof and asked a lot of questions. We have gotten lots of compliments!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Sunnyside

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Sunnyside, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Sunnyside.

Will freeze-thaw cycles in Wisconsin damage a metal roof?

No. Aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens under repeated freeze-thaw stress rather than cracking like asphalt or wood. Sunnyside averages about 81 freeze-thaw days per year, and Interlock's 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is engineered for exactly this cycling. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating—warranted 30 years against degradation—provides an additional chemical barrier. Your roof expands and contracts slightly with temperature swings, but the four-way interlocking panels accommodate that movement without splitting or curling.

How does Interlock handle Sunnyside's 131 centimeters of annual snow?

The lightweight design—Shake profiles install at just 0.58 pounds per square foot—means snow doesn't burden your structure the way heavy slate or clay tile would. More importantly, smooth aluminum sheds snow and ice far more efficiently than asphalt, reducing ice dam buildup during the thaw cycles you experience roughly 81 days per year. Optional snow guards are available if you need them for safety. The panels' four-way interlocking system prevents wind from lifting or separating edges during nor'easters, which gust around 98 km/h in your area.

Can a metal roof rust in Wisconsin?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the two elements needed for rust chemistry. What forms instead is an invisible, self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath. Scratches or minor damage automatically repair themselves over time. In Sunnyside's environment, where you receive about 653 millimeters of rain annually, this matters: while steel roofing requires constant vigilance, Interlock's aluminum roofing with its Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides for extra salt-air protection) simply does not corrode. The Guardian warranty explicitly covers rust—a promise steel roofing manufacturers cannot make.

Do I need to reinforce my roof framing for metal roofing?

Almost never. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, weighs about 0.59 pounds per square foot—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Compare that to the structural load of 130 centimeters of snow accumulation on a rooftop, and the roofing itself becomes negligible. This lightweight advantage means most homes can install over their existing roof without costly reinforcement. The ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) confirms installation over solid or spaced decking. Your framing, built decades ago to handle asphalt shingles, easily handles aluminum.

Will a metal roof blow off in Wisconsin wind gusts?

No. The four-way interlocking panel system is warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 miles per hour (193 km/h)—far exceeding Sunnyside's typical gusts of about 98 km/h. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four edges, so wind cannot find a seam to lift. When installed to specification with proper fastening, the system performs like a single unified surface. The UL 2218 Class 4 hail impact rating (the highest available) is a side benefit of that same rigid interlocking; it's the same engineering that prevents wind uplift.

Can hail damage Interlock metal roofing, and will insurance cover it?

Interlock aluminum roofing holds a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest classification available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Wisconsin averages about 3,030 hours of annual sunshine rather than frequent hail, severe storms do occur regionally. Many insurance companies recognize the Class 4 rating and may offer premium discounts; contact your agent with the UL 2218 documentation. Even without a discount, the rarity of claims combined with the 30-year coating warranty and lifetime material coverage creates genuine peace of mind.

Will reflective metal roofing save money on cooling costs?

Yes, on the warmest days. energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning they bounce heat back into the atmosphere rather than conducting it into your attic the way dark asphalt does. Sunnyside averages about 3,030 sunshine hours annually, so those reflective properties work throughout the warmer months. Summer cooling savings depend on your roof size and local utility rates, but Cool Roof Rating Council data confirms real reductions in heat load. Over a 40-year roof lifespan, the cumulative savings add meaningful value to your energy bill.

How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof actually need?

Virtually none beyond keeping gutters clear. Unlike asphalt shingles, which degrade visibly after a decade, wood shakes, which split and curl in freeze-thaw cycles like Sunnyside's 81 annual days, or traditional tile, which cracks, Interlock aluminum does not require sealing, coating reapplication, or replacement of damaged sections. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. Rain and snowmelt naturally clean the panels. The CALGreen-verified low-maintenance design means you buy a roof, not a maintenance subscription.

What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover, and for how long?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner with a 50-year term from completion. In practical terms, this is the last roof you will buy. No other roofing type—asphalt, wood, tile, or steel—backs its material with a true lifetime warranty on the original owner. Combined with manufacturing since 1998 and installations from coastal salt-air environments to an Antarctic research station, the real-world track record proves the product's durability in every climate.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Interlock's aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, ending the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that occurs every 15 to 20 years. Over a 50-year period in Sunnyside, where you receive about 653 millimeters of rain and 131 centimeters of snow annually, an asphalt roof requires two or three replacements, each generating tons of waste. Aluminum roofing's 50-year lifespan (with transferability to the next owner) means one installation, zero tear-offs, and zero asphalt waste. When the roof eventually reaches the end of its life, the metal returns to the recycling stream as a raw material—not a landfill.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Sunnyside’s climate?

Yes. Sunnyside averages about 131 cm of snow, 653 mm of rain, roughly 81 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 98 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
