To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

Review: November 4, 2016Completion: September 30, 2015

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Review: January 28, 2016Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: July 30, 2006Completion: June 27, 2006

Well, the roof is on and I guess I owe you, folks, a testimonial. It looks great! We chose a black slate style shingle which accentuates our mansard roof very nicely with crisp, clean lines. We are getting lots of compliments from our neighbors. The best part is knowing that our roof will continue to look great for many, many years – long after conventional asphalt shingles would be cracking, curling, fading, streaking and collecting mold and mildew. The crew was first rate – very professional and efficient. It was fun to watch them work. Every single man seemed to know exactly what to do at all times. The process looked like a choreographed event. They were thorough and cleaned up after themselves at every step and, unlike some roofing jobs I’ve seen, they always immediately replaced what they tore out so that the house was never exposed to weather when they left the job at the end of the day. Finally, we really appreciated the “good faith” method of doing business with Interlock. We didn’t pay a dime up front or during the roofing process. Only after we had made a final inspection and approved the job were we asked for payment. In conclusion, I would highly recommend Interlock roofing to anyone replacing a roof or building a new house.

Our new roof looks fabulous! We’re optimistic that we’ll be equally as pleased with its performance. The installers were professional, safety conscious, and courtesy to our dog. We appreciate how understanding they were of our dog needing a little time in his yard when they were working in that side of the house.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Grennan

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Grennan, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Grennan.

How does a metal roof handle Minnesota's heavy snow and ice buildup?

Interlock's smooth aluminum panels shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt shingles, which trap moisture and encourage ice dams. Grennan receives about 101 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 77 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that accelerate asphalt degradation. The four-way interlocking design distributes weight evenly, and the lightweight panels (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) eliminate structural strain. Optional snow guards are available if you need to manage snow release on neighbors' properties.

Will freeze-thaw cycles in Minnesota damage an aluminum roof?

No. Aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens through exposure and self-heals when scratched—it doesn't absorb water like asphalt or wood, so freeze-thaw cycling causes no cracking, splitting, or rot. With 77 annual freeze-thaw days and 557 mm of rainfall, Grennan homes face repeated wet-cold stress that breaks down traditional materials. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is engineered for exactly this climate. The Guardian Warranty explicitly covers splitting and cracking—a promise only possible because the material resists these failure modes.

Can an aluminum roof rust in Minnesota's wet climate?

Aluminum is chemically incapable of rusting because it contains no iron. It forms a self-healing aluminum oxide layer that protects the base metal and actually repairs itself when scratched. Grennan's 557 mm annual rain and 19 km/h typical wind gusts create constant moisture exposure where steel would corrode. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (applied to both sides, 30-year warranty) provides an additional barrier. The result: a roof that remains structurally sound decades after asphalt has failed or steel has begun showing rust stains.

Are metal roofs safe in Grennan's high wind gusts?

Grennan experiences typical gusts up to 103 km/h, well within the 120 mph (193 km/h) wind resistance warranty of Interlock's four-way interlocking system when properly installed to spec. The interlocking design distributes wind force across multiple panels rather than concentrating it on individual fasteners. UL testing and ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirm this performance under extreme conditions. Properly installed, you won't encounter wind-driven leaks, uplift, or panel displacement that plague single-fastener asphalt systems.

Does metal roofing hold up to hail, and can it lower insurance costs?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4—the highest hail-impact rating available. The warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this non-combustible, impact-resistant design and offer discounts on homeowner or commercial policies. Contact your agent with the ESR-1790 report and UL 2218 Class 4 rating to discuss potential savings. Over a 50-year roof life, these discounts add meaningful value alongside the elimination of hail-replacement costs.

What's the real lifespan and warranty on an Interlock metal roof?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material guarantee for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once to the next owner for a 50-year term from completion. No degradation clause—you're protected for the life you own it. Installed since 1998 in climates ranging from coastal salt-air to Antarctic research stations, Interlock panels routinely outlast two or three asphalt reroof cycles, making this the last roof most homeowners install.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Initial cost is higher, but lifecycle math favors metal decisively. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–20 years in Grennan's 101 cm annual snowfall and 77 freeze-thaw cycles. A metal roof installed once eliminates three or four tear-off-to-landfill cycles, disposal costs, and labor. Add the non-prorated lifetime warranty, potential insurance discounts (Class 4 hail rating, non-combustible Class A fire option), and near-zero maintenance, and the total cost of ownership is substantially lower. Over 50 years, metal is not premium—it's economy.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile is approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, while the Slate and Shingle profiles weigh just 0.41–0.58 lb/sq ft. Most installations go directly over existing roofing without adding load to walls or framing. This lightweight advantage is especially valuable in Grennan, where 101 cm of annual snow already places seasonal weight on your roof. The lighter the roof, the less stress during heavy snow events and the simpler the installation.

Is metal roofing actually more environmentally responsible than asphalt?

Yes. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable and retains its value indefinitely—at end of life, scrap aluminum markets ensure recovery, not landfill. Asphalt shingles, conversely, generate hundreds of millions of tons of landfill waste annually. Over Grennan's lifecycle, one metal roof eliminates multiple asphalt tear-off events, each depositing tons of waste. Additionally, Interlock's energy-efficient colors with 0.84 thermal emissivity reduce cooling demand. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance waste as well. The material choice cuts both installation waste and operational impact.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Grennan, and how experienced are they?

Interlock Metal Roofing has served the Mille Lacs County region since 2001—more than 20 years of local expertise in Grennan's climate. They're familiar with the specific challenges of 101 cm annual snowfall, freeze-thaw cycling, and wind gusts reaching 103 km/h. As the manufacturer's authorized installer, they perform work to the specification that backs the 120 mph wind warranty, non-prorated lifetime coverage, and Class 4 hail rating. Local service means accessible support, rapid response, and accountability to your community.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Grennan’s climate?

Yes. Grennan averages about 101 cm of snow, 557 mm of rain, roughly 77 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 103 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
