To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

Review: November 4, 2016Completion: September 30, 2015

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Review: January 28, 2016Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: July 30, 2006Completion: June 27, 2006

Well, the roof is on and I guess I owe you, folks, a testimonial. It looks great! We chose a black slate style shingle which accentuates our mansard roof very nicely with crisp, clean lines. We are getting lots of compliments from our neighbors. The best part is knowing that our roof will continue to look great for many, many years – long after conventional asphalt shingles would be cracking, curling, fading, streaking and collecting mold and mildew. The crew was first rate – very professional and efficient. It was fun to watch them work. Every single man seemed to know exactly what to do at all times. The process looked like a choreographed event. They were thorough and cleaned up after themselves at every step and, unlike some roofing jobs I’ve seen, they always immediately replaced what they tore out so that the house was never exposed to weather when they left the job at the end of the day. Finally, we really appreciated the “good faith” method of doing business with Interlock. We didn’t pay a dime up front or during the roofing process. Only after we had made a final inspection and approved the job were we asked for payment. In conclusion, I would highly recommend Interlock roofing to anyone replacing a roof or building a new house.

Our new roof looks fabulous! We’re optimistic that we’ll be equally as pleased with its performance. The installers were professional, safety conscious, and courtesy to our dog. We appreciate how understanding they were of our dog needing a little time in his yard when they were working in that side of the house.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Kasota Township

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Kasota Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Kasota Township.

How does a metal roof handle Minnesota snow loads and ice dams?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice reliably because the smooth surface doesn't trap moisture the way asphalt does. Kasota Township gets about 92 cm of snow annually, and the slick aluminum profile—especially our Standing Seam and Slate designs—encourages melt-water drainage before it refreezes into dams. The panels themselves weigh only 0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft, so they handle heavy snow loads without structural stress. Add optional snow guards if you want controlled shedding, and you're covered for the freeze-thaw cycles this region experiences about 78 days per year.

Will freeze-thaw cycling in Minnesota damage an aluminum metal roof?

Aluminum actually thrives through freeze-thaw because it has no iron and cannot rust—the material's oxide layer heals itself when exposed to air. Where asphalt becomes brittle and cracks after repeated freezing and thawing cycles, aluminum stays flexible and maintains its structural integrity. With roughly 78 freeze-thaw days per year in Kasota Township and 92 cm of annual snow, your roof needs a material that won't degrade as temperatures swing. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, even through Minnesota's most punishing seasonal transitions.

Can a metal roof withstand Minnesota wind and gusts?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h)—well beyond Kasota Township's typical gust speeds of around 103 km/h. The interlocking design means each panel grips its neighbors on all four sides, so wind cannot get underneath and lift the roof. This redundancy also means your roof won't flutter or rattle during storms; the panels move as one system. Because the panels are so light (0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft), there's less inertial stress on the fasteners, and less reason for seasonal expansion to loosen connections over time.

Do I need to reinforce my home's framing for a metal roof?

No reinforcement needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates heavy clay or concrete tile, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than the real thing. This extraordinary lightness means you can install metal roofing over most existing roofs without any structural work, saving thousands in labor and materials. Kasota Township homeowners often inherit older homes with modest framing; aluminum roofing sidesteps that bottleneck entirely. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms the system's safety across residential applications, so your existing structure handles the load with ease.

Does my insurance company offer discounts for a hail-resistant metal roof?

Interlock metal roofing achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest classification available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That level of protection can qualify you for homeowners' insurance discounts because your roof will not fail during severe hail events that would shred asphalt shingles. Check with your insurance agent; many carriers offer premium reductions or extended coverage for Class 4 roofs. In a region where spring and summer hail is always possible, this rating translates directly to long-term savings and peace of mind.

Why doesn't an aluminum roof rust like steel roofing does?

Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust at all—it's a fundamental material property, not a coating trick. When aluminum oxidizes, it forms a microscopic protective layer that actually seals the surface against further corrosion. If that layer gets scratched (by a branch or ladder), the aluminum underneath automatically re-oxidizes and heals itself. Steel, by contrast, rusts from the inside out once its coating is compromised. Kasota Township's 773 mm of annual rain and seasonal humidity would accelerate rust on steel; aluminum simply doesn't corrode that way. We apply Alunar 70% PVDF finish to both sides of every panel for extra durability in high-moisture environments.

Can a metal roof help reduce cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors have initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they bounce much of the sun's heat away before it enters your home. Asphalt absorbs solar radiation; metal reflects it. Kasota Township receives about 3209 sunshine hours per year, so a reflective roof cuts cooling demand significantly, especially during the longer, brighter days of late spring and early summer. The difference compounds season after season: you're not storing heat in your attic the way dark roofing does. Combined with the roof's longevity, the energy savings add real value over 30 or 50 years.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need?

Almost none—that's the point. Asphalt shingles need regular inspection for curling, cracking, and granule loss; wood shakes split and rot; tile cracks and needs patching. Interlock aluminum panels don't split, rot, curl, or crack. Rain and snow clean the surface naturally. The Alunar coating is rated for 30 years against chalking and fading, so you won't see color loss even after decades in Minnesota's sun and weather. Your maintenance list shrinks to occasional visual inspection and gutter cleaning—the same tasks any roof requires. That simplicity is one reason the Guardian Warranty is non-prorated for the original owner: the roof simply doesn't need expensive upkeep to earn it.

What does the Guardian Warranty actually cover, and how long does it last?

The Guardian is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—meaning there's no coverage reduction over time for manufacturing defects. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. When you sell, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, giving your home a genuine long-term value story. Traditional asphalt roofs rarely see their 25-year warranty honored because the material degrades predictably; this aluminum roof is engineered to outlast the warranty period entirely. That transferability is powerful in resale: future buyers inherit peace of mind, not a roof that needs replacement soon after purchase.

Is a metal roof worth the higher upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Yes, when you measure across the roof's full lifespan. Asphalt shingles last 15–25 years and require periodic maintenance, repairs, and eventual tear-off and landfill disposal—a cycle you'll repeat multiple times in 50 years. Interlock aluminum, installed once, will outlast two or three asphalt roofs, requires almost no maintenance, and is about 95% recyclable at end of life (or likely never reaches end of life). The upfront premium shrinks to zero when you calculate the cost per year over a 50-year ownership horizon, especially factoring in the avoided labor, disposal, and insurance-discount benefits. For a Kasota Township homeowner planning to stay in their home—or sell it with a transferable 50-year warranty attached—it's the last roof you'll ever buy.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Kasota Township’s climate?

Yes. Kasota Township averages about 92 cm of snow, 773 mm of rain, roughly 78 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 103 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
