To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Review: January 28, 2016Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: July 30, 2006Completion: June 27, 2006

Well, the roof is on and I guess I owe you, folks, a testimonial. It looks great! We chose a black slate style shingle which accentuates our mansard roof very nicely with crisp, clean lines. We are getting lots of compliments from our neighbors. The best part is knowing that our roof will continue to look great for many, many years – long after conventional asphalt shingles would be cracking, curling, fading, streaking and collecting mold and mildew. The crew was first rate – very professional and efficient. It was fun to watch them work. Every single man seemed to know exactly what to do at all times. The process looked like a choreographed event. They were thorough and cleaned up after themselves at every step and, unlike some roofing jobs I’ve seen, they always immediately replaced what they tore out so that the house was never exposed to weather when they left the job at the end of the day. Finally, we really appreciated the “good faith” method of doing business with Interlock. We didn’t pay a dime up front or during the roofing process. Only after we had made a final inspection and approved the job were we asked for payment. In conclusion, I would highly recommend Interlock roofing to anyone replacing a roof or building a new house.

Our new roof looks fabulous! We’re optimistic that we’ll be equally as pleased with its performance. The installers were professional, safety conscious, and courtesy to our dog. We appreciate how understanding they were of our dog needing a little time in his yard when they were working in that side of the house.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Le Sueur

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Le Sueur, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Le Sueur.

How does a metal roof handle Le Sueur's snow and ice buildup?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt shingles because the smooth, hard surface prevents ice dams that trap water behind ridges. Le Sueur receives about 92 cm of snow annually across roughly 78 freeze-thaw cycles, meaning your roof experiences repeated expansion and contraction—aluminum's non-rusting oxide layer remains stable through these cycles, and the sealed joints prevent water infiltration during melt phases. Optional snow guards can be installed if you prefer controlled shedding. The lightweight design (Cedar Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no snow load structural concerns.

Will Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycles damage an aluminum metal roof?

Aluminum naturally resists freeze-thaw damage because it contains no iron and cannot rust or rot, so the repeated expansion and contraction that cracks asphalt or wood shingles leaves it unaffected. With about 78 freeze-thaw days yearly in Le Sueur, this durability matters: water trapped in conventional roofing splits seams and degrades fasteners, but Interlock's sealed four-way interlocking design and self-healing oxide layer keep water out. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating resists weathering across those conditions and is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 measured), so the roof's appearance and water-shedding ability remain consistent.

Can aluminum roofing rust in Minnesota winters?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element required for rust to form. Instead, aluminum naturally develops a transparent oxide layer that seals the surface; if scratched, this layer self-heals automatically when exposed to air. Roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is what Interlock uses, and the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides adds extra protection. With Le Sueur's 773 mm annual rainfall and winter freeze-thaw cycling, a non-corroding roof eliminates the fastener degradation and rust staining that plague steel or asphalt systems, ensuring a clean appearance for decades.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed because Interlock aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at only 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than traditional concrete or clay tile. This means you avoid the expensive structural engineering and framing upgrades required for heavy tile roofs. Because the panels are so light, they install directly over most existing roofs without removal, saving labor and landfill costs. The four-way interlocking system distributes loads evenly, and when installed to specification, the design handles wind gusts up to 103 km/h typical in Le Sueur County without additional bracing.

How does Interlock metal roofing perform in Minnesota wind?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification, well above the typical daily-max gusts of 23 km/h in Le Sueur. The interlocking design means each panel is mechanically fastened to the underlying deck while also overlapping its neighbors, distributing uplift forces across the entire roof rather than loading individual fasteners. ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms compliance with IBC/IRC wind provisions. This engineering matters in Minnesota, where winter storms can produce gusts exceeding 100 km/h; the sealed joints and distributed fastening prevent the leakage and panel separation that plague single-fastened asphalt systems in high wind.

Will a metal roof get dented by Minnesota hail, and what about insurance?

Interlock aluminum roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Modern aluminum alloys are work-hardened to resist denting far better than older soft aluminum, and the four-way interlocking profile itself provides surface stiffness. Because the roof is non-combustible (Class A fire rating available) and carries the highest impact rating, many insurers recognize it as a reduced-risk system, potentially lowering your premium. In Le Sueur County, where hail risk is part of spring weather, this combination of durability and underwriter recognition can offset the initial material investment within years.

How long does an Interlock metal roof last, and what does the warranty cover?

Interlock's Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—conditions that commonly end asphalt or wood-shake roofs within 20-30 years. The warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding real resale value. Combined with the 30-year coating warranty (Alunar 70% PVDF, ASTM D4214/D2244) and the aluminum's inherent non-corrosion, a properly installed Interlock roof easily lasts 50+ years in Le Sueur's wet climate (773 mm rain, 92 cm snow annually), making it genuinely the last roof you buy.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or tile?

Interlock metal roofing requires dramatically less maintenance than asphalt shingles, which degrade under UV exposure and the 3209 annual sunshine hours in Le Sueur, or traditional tile, which cracks in freeze-thaw cycles. Aluminum doesn't rot, split, curl, or lose granules; you simply rinse debris and inspect flashing during spring and fall. The sealed four-way interlocking design prevents water infiltration that leads to moss or algae growth common on asphalt in wet climates. CALGreen certification confirms the reduced-maintenance profile. Over a 50-year lifespan, you'll save thousands in repairs, recoatings, and partial replacements that asphalt and wood systems routinely require.

Is a metal roof more expensive than asphalt over the life of your home?

Upfront cost is higher, but lifecycle cost favors Interlock significantly. Asphalt shingles cost less initially but require replacement every 20-25 years, plus repairs from UV damage, ice dams, and weather; in Le Sueur's 78 annual freeze-thaw days and 773 mm rainfall, that cycle accelerates. A single tear-off and landfill disposal runs $1,500-$3,000 per occurrence. Interlock lasts 50+ years with minimal maintenance and transfers 50 years to the next owner via the Guardian warranty, meaning one purchase covers two generations. The lightweight aluminum installs over most existing roofs, saving removal costs. Over 50 years, Interlock's longer intervals between replacement and lower maintenance expense typically cost 30-50% less per year than repeated asphalt installations.

Can a metal roof reduce my cooling costs in Minnesota summers?

Yes. Interlock offers energy-efficient colors with solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. These reflective coatings bounce solar heat away rather than absorbing it as asphalt does, lowering attic temperatures and reducing air-conditioning load during Le Sueur's 3,209 annual sunshine hours. Summer cooling savings vary by home, but energy-efficient metal roofs consistently outperform dark asphalt. The benefit compounds in winter too: the emissivity rating helps retain radiant heat from inside, reducing furnace cycling. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating maintains this reflectance across the 30-year warranty period (ASTM D2244), so the energy benefit doesn't fade as it does with asphalt.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Le Sueur’s climate?

Yes. Le Sueur averages about 92 cm of snow, 773 mm of rain, roughly 78 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 103 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
